Dear Sue, I have had the most enjoyable & inspiring time learning from you.  I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so inspirational, encouraging & opening my eyes to the world of stitch ! W.B. Wiltshire

Sue, your courses are the best thing that have happened to me in a long time - thank you

Hi Sue,

I have been meaning to email you for ages to thank you for the great day I spent doing Beginners Sewing Skills - in fact I so enjoyed it that I bought the same machine as I had been using on the workshop the very next day!

Since then I have attempted some more cushions, and am just embarking on my first pair of curtains - nothing like ambition is there…

Ally, Oxford

Hi Sue,

I can hardly believe that only 9 weeks ago I didn’t even know how to thread my sewing machine and now I’ve just started work on a pair of floor length curtains for a large bay window, thanks for all your patient tuition!

Donna, Scotland

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for Friday - I LOVED it & was reassured about my sewing machine, learnt a lot AND came away with a cushion!

Thank you for the delicious lunch, magazines & I look forward to the next lesson.

Best wishes, Harriet

Hi Sue,

I hope you are well !

I just wanted to drop you a line to say that your Roman Blind class was one of the best investments I ever made !

Here is an example from today........... I’ve just bought some extra wide fabric (160 cm) for a large Roman Blind on my stairwell window (I paid a bit more for the special width because I didn’t really fancy matching two panels on either side!!)

It was quick & easy to calculate based on your excellent crib notes you gave us on the course all those years ago.

Anyway, the cost of the fabric and lining was £53 – the cost to have it made to measure was £456.00 arrghhhh.

So all these years later it’s still paying dividends – yeah.

Take care, love Andrea. xxx

Hello Sue,

Well what can I say - I got everything from the 3 day curtain workshops I hoped for & more.

You covered everything I expected from the course details on your website.

I also learnt tips & tricks that will come in useful in the future.

You were fab Sue - this letter does not do you justice.

Best wishes, Rosemary.

Dear Sue,

The days were excellent value for money with a great sense of group dynamics, your extensive knowledge, lovely sense of humour - I felt very relaxed & boosted my confidence.

I felt that you adapted the lesson if needed, according to our sewing machines

We liked the way you were able to answer all our questions - you lifetime of sewing really shows.

Take care & see you next time.

Thank you again, Penny.

Hi Sue,

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your course. I feel much more confident in the use of my overlocker.

I realise now that the change in stitch appearance are normal aspects of overlocking and can be used as a technique depending on the project you are working on.

Prior to coming on your course.. I would not have considered using just one needle ! The samples that we worked on  will prove an invaluable resource in selecting settings for different projects in the future..

In the future, I will be back for the doodle sewing with you !

I was looking at the pin cushion you gave me pretty , simple but clever and effective.

I feel very inspired.

Thank you and Kind regards,

Annette M. xxx Mid-Wales

Hi Sue

Thank you so much for the photo and the notes.

I am very proud of my roman blind and look forward to making another one!

I am thrilled that I have now learned how to do straight lines!

Take care,

Liz B. x  Somerset

Thanks Sue for a really great few days learning new skills & meeting nice people.

Looking forward to the roman blind & curtain making courses very soon.

Ally, Oxford

Hi Sue

I have attached a photo of my kitchen roman blinds that I MADE as a result of your classes!

Thanks to your Wonderful courses I have now made four blinds, five box cushions and many piped cushions

This is something I would never have been able to do without your courses.

Your teaching, individual to everyone's ability, is friendly and professional.

I enjoyed the days so much finding them not only useful but relaxing and therapeutic too!

It's very satisfying to leave at the end of the day with something you have made yourself.

And I have saved money as the price of one course was much cheaper than having just one blind made!

If anyone is looking for a great day/course with an experienced lovely lady who can teach everything you need to know about sewing then you are the lady for them.

Kindest regards
Jacqui L. Glos.

Good afternoon Sue,

I have been very inspired after attending your sewing machine workshop !

As a result I have made several cushions for family & friends - just need to make time to sew some for myself.

Looking forward to seeing you on my next workshop learning how to make curtains.

Thanks again, Janet.

Hello Sue,

Thank you once again for giving me the push and confidence to use the sewing machine in my patchwork & quilting - I am now 'flying solo'.

All my very best wishes

Dot - Oxfordshire

Dear Sue,

The whole day was relaxed & enjoyable with pleasant surroundings and an excellent tutor !

I would say that whilst when booking I thought the cost of the course was rather expensive (in relation to cost of my overlocking machine).

BUT I would thoroughly recommend it as it was well worth the investment.

I had plenty of individual tuition and a very small class size.  At time of booking I had not realised the class size would be so small.  A REAL bonus.

Many thanks again for your patience, Maggie.

Hello Sue,

Thank you for such a fabulous day yesterday, I really enjoyed myself - and as well as knowing how to use a button hole foot (magic!)

I am no longer scared to get cracking with my over-locker, I also know about the thread cutter....and lots more beside.

All in all a great success of a day for me and you are a really good tutor.

I hope you are having a good day today, and please say hello to Justine from me - it was very nice to share a day in the workshop with her.

See you again sometime I'm sure,

Philippa x

Hi Sue

I really enjoyed the day and it's given me the confidence to attack the chair cover situation with much more enthusiasm!  My partner was very impressed with the cover and we went out and bought some fabric last week to do the chairs with and will play round with some different design ideas to make it a bit different.

I'm just starting on a new template which I can then unpick and use as a pattern for the new fabric and can't wait to get going!

Many thanks again and I hope to do another course in the future :).

Kind regards
Josephine, X. Oxford

Sue, as usual I have had the most amazing time, thank you for looking after me and for teaching me skills that with time and patience I will master!

3 days of piped, zipped cushions, curtain pattern repeats & clothing alterations.

Love the photos, thank you.

I'll see you soon, Justine

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for a wonderful certificate day after our 10 month Soft Furnishings Course - it was so well organised.

Getting my certificate reminded me it is an achievement of which I am proud & I must now put to good use !

The year has been inspirational & I feel excited by the prospect of, dare I say, sewing at a professional level !

Thank you for all your hard work, thoughtfulness & generosity.

With much love, Georgie.  London

Dear Sue,

I would like to thank you so much for the last 10 months Boxed Cushions/Loose Covers Course & can't believe how quick it past.

I loved every minute of it & have piping & zipping in almost everything !

Looking forward to my Love Sewing in Italy week this year.

Love & best wishes from Vi. xx

Hello Sue,

I thoroughly enjoyed the Roman Blind making class yesterday and am very pleased with the blind I made.

I would like to book onto the 10 day course, Thursdays - September 2017 to July 2018.

Please let me know if you have a space for me and I will send a deposit.

Thank you.

Teresa - Gloucester

Dear Sue,

You are so very kind as to share your knowledge and expertise, let me poke around examining your samples in the sewing tuition studio.

Thank you so very much - what a wonderful day it was when I decided to learn to make curtains, found you, met you, and bit by bit changed my entire focus and direction.

And I found in you not only the most patient and thoughtful teacher, but also a lovely new friend.

Lots of love, Melanie xxx

Hi Sue,

I really enjoyed working in your relaxed, but driven environment.

I feel I have learnt so much & can now repeat skills at home, especially the centring of patterns on roman blinds.

It was also great to get snippets re the industry and very useful to listen to what others in class are up to.

You have a great environment & lots to inspire.

Looking forward to seeing you on the overlocking day.

Best wishes, Helen - Warwickshire

Dear Sue,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for the sewing machine class today.  I really, really enjoyed it.

I have learnt things I will never forget and love the cushions I made.

Grandma loves her cushion loads and could not stop smiling, so once again thank you very much :)

Gabbi, Oxford

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for a wonderful 10 months on your certificate course.

I loved the fantastic small group tutoring, brilliant notes and your teaching style - time for the individual without any pressure.

I now have an overall understanding of how to approach soft furnishings - measuring with accuracy leads to cutting more accurately.  I also gained more knowledge of my sewing machine thanks to your background as a sewing machine demonstrator !

Thank you again, Sarah - Gloucestershire.

Dear Sue,

I just wanted to thank you so much for your help and instruction yesterday.

I have learned so much and was going over it in my sleep and cannot wait to get going on the next trial cover.

I learnt more about measuring, cutting & constructing a loose cover on your introduction day, than I have from any book.

You are an excellent tutor with a great sewing environment, a REALLY worthwhile day.

Best wishes, Penny – Warwickshire

Hi Sue

Just wanted to say thank you for such a superb two day machine embroidery course.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The sewing environment is lovely and cosy.  You have decorated the rooms so beautifully.

Thank you also for the helpful tips you gave and for sending me the sites for the embroidery cards.

I will regularly have a look at your site to check dates of courses that will interest me.

It was really nice to meet you and thank you again.

Best wishes

Jasmine, Wiltshire.

Hi Sue,

Many thanks for such helpful, fun, relaxing and relaxed sewing machine day, and excellent company , lunch , cake!

My machine is now a firm friend and spending a day on it like that has been great.

I am so inspired to do an overlocker day so if I could be fitted in please let me know, I do hope so, I really do!

(I have a Janome 8002DX differential feed out of its box but that is all !)

Kind regards, Sophie, London

Dear Sue,

I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the 10 Date Courses with you.

The course has been a perfect combination of learning, doing, enjoying and all rounded off with good humour & companionship.

I am looking forward to coming back next term for Level Two.

All the best,

Melanie. Herts. xxx

Hi Sue,

You are such a good tutor, with a brilliant sense of humour and just a look from you makes me laugh. You made us all feel very comfortable.

It's true what you say about some courses complicate the process of making soft furnishings.

I loved the textile shop yesterday, I couldn't believe how much choice they had, I will definitely be visiting them again and taking some friends.

Once I've got my head around all these Curtains, Pelmets and Blinds etc I will be looking at getting to grips with all the things my BIG machine can do - I will be knocking at your door.

Christina, Cheshire

Comment from FaceBook.

"Had a great time on the Roman Blind day and can't wait to do more courses.

Sue is a really thorough teacher and has lots of little tips and tricks up her sleeve!"

Jo B.  Oxfordshire

Thank you very much for all your great teaching this year.  I have been very inspired and can't wait for new challenges on your 10 date certificate course.

Best wishes,

Wendy. Yorkshire. x

Hi Sue,

Thank you for a VERY informative curtain making day.

I loved the fact you work with just small groups in your lovely environment which is very inspiring.

Your notes are brilliant & easy to follow - I am so pleased we made a sample item so we could make any little errors on that !

Your tips on how to get blood out of fabric, having the right measuring tools & loads more will stay with me forever.

Best wishes,

Nicky, West Midlands

Dear Sue,

Many thanks for yesterday.

I now feel able to have a go with my sewing machine at home, and feel much more confident that I can sort it out if it doesn't go to plan!

I have already had it out again today and have rethreaded it, and done a little practising!

Kind regards

Marianne - Stratford

Dear Sue,

Thank you for all your help and advice I gleaned from my week of sewing tuition in Somerset with you.

My local village have been asking for help with sewing, so I might be putting my knowledge to the test sooner than I thought !

I hope you had a safe journey home.

Very best wishes,

Barbara R, Cornwall

Hi Sue,

I just wanted to email with a huge thank you for such a wonderful Beginners Sewing Machine day last Thursday.

I truly enjoyed every moment of my day and left feeling totally liberated and focused towards the future.

I would really like to progress and carve out a small business for myself within the curtain making/ soft furnishing industry.

I would really love to train with you and develop my skills to become a competent curtain/ soft furnishing maker!

Would you also mind reminding me about the Christmas Fair you are attending this year, as I would love to visit.

Many thanks in advance,

Danielle, Shropshire

Hello Sue,

We are just back from a few days away, hence my delay in writing to thank you very much for such an excellent loose covers course.

I learned a lot and am just about to measure up for a practice piece.

I should very much like to do the alterations course but I am a bit caught time wise. I will keep in touch.

It was such a pleasure to meet you and thank you again.

Anne D. xx  Shropshire

Hi Sue,
Thank you so much for another great day.

You have de-bunked the mystery of my overlocker for me and I have a lovely vogue pattern to put it through its paces!

Your days are packed full of great tips and techniques and I only realise how much I have learnt when I get home, as the day whizzes by!

Please feel free to use this as a testimonial.

Hope to see you again!
Best wishes Barbara. Warwickshire.

Dear Sue,
Just a quick thank-you for your overlocking course today.

It really was tremendous to see how you took three absolute beginners and enabled us to go home able to not only do the basics, like set up our machines properly, know which threads did which tasks.

Also practicing our stitches so we know how to judge the right stitches and tension for the material being used.

Very enjoyable too was the trial runs on the different material types like stretchy jersey and silky materials - it was really stunning to see how quickly a rolled hem could be done!

I see chiffon scarves for everyone this summer.
Again, many thanks, and I shall be back as soon as I can find a curtain making day on the website.
Regards, Nick G.

Dear Sue
When I am outsourcing hand made soft furnishings, I consider the quality of the making, and the manner of their delivery of the finished articles: something that is beautifully pressed and laid out is going to be a win for me, as it saves me time on site, and it indicates the level of care and pride that the person has put into their workmanship.

This is why I return to you Sue at Sewing Tuition over the years, again and again. Your work comes exquisitely packed and pinned, easy to install on site with minimum disruption or hassle.

Peronel B. Oxford

Dear Sue,

Had the best day today - thank you so much.

I've learnt a lot today - particularly about the text/jargon in dressmaking patterns.

They don't always read quite right & you have demystified it !

My brain has been taxed but in a positive way - looking forward to seeing you next month for our next sewing session.

Wendy C.

Dear Sue

Thank you SO much for inviting me to  share your Certificate Presentation lunch with your students.

I must say it was thoroughly enjoyable to see so much happiness & joy in their faces & dedication for what they are doing.

The way they interacted with each other & the way they are taking themselves forward into small businesses from home.

It does me good to see people being so positive about something as precious as their sewing.  I must say you are engendering the right spirit & you are a born teacher.

Congratulations on what you are achieving with them. It did me good to witness it.

Thank you very much, FC - The Tews, Oxfordshire.

Hi Sue
I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I won second prize in the village show with the dress I made on your course.

Comment was "Lovely dress. Lovely chevron of dress at sides. Well done!"

I was up against a shirt, waistcoat and Womble! Picture to follow. I was very pleased.

Thank you for a brilliant 2 days. I have started on an a-line skirt and found my sewing confidence.

Best regards,

Alison - Bucks

Hello Sue,

I had a fabulous, fabulous fabulous time on Saturday.

As I told you before the class, I had never touched a sewing machine before that day, but knew I just wanted to learn to sew.

My daughter could not believe that I had made the cushion & cannot wait to show the rest of the family.

You have such patience.

Thanks a million again,

Joan H. Gloucester.

Hello Sue,

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for all your wonderful tutoring today.  I really feel like I have learned enough to start some sewing with my sewing machine.

I now have the confidence to thread up the machine and fill the bobbin, to cut bits of material out and sew together.  This is a major milestone, and I am starting to see my machine as a friend with benefits !!  Excellent news, I hope to take things further in due course.

It was a fabulous day and the time flew by.  So productive and the cushion looks fabulous in the lounge.

Thank you for all your help. It was lovely to meet you & the other participants on the course too.

A success I'd say !

Warmest wishes & kind regards,

Hilary - Worcs.

Hi Sue,

Lovely pic : ))

Thank you for a great day, I really enjoyed it and I am delighted that I will soon be able to make my own lambrequin, using my sample as a guide.

I look forward to joining you again and having eaten most of the chocolate - I will save my voucher for next time!

Thanks again.

Rebecca -Malvern

Lovely Sue,

Thank you for the endless patience, humour and flexibility you have displayed whilst teaching me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the 10 date Soft Furnishings Certificate course and I’ve learned SO much, and whilst I know I still have a lot to learn, I feel your guidance has set me off on the right foot.

I will back for more training in the New Year.

Lots of love,

Cheryl - Berks

Hi Sue
Day of practise now back home!

I have given your leaflet to 2 people who are on the same very SLOOOOOOOW sewing class back home - they said they wants to do a course with you.

They saw my curtain and cushions and were shocked on how accurate they were & that I achieved it in 2 days instead of taking 10 weeks at night school.

Thanks for a wonderful couple of days it's been great & we very much enjoyed it, it has been great. When I go to night school next week I will most certainly give more of your leaflets out.

I will let you know how I get on with my projects and will be in touch, and will back again that's if you can put up with me. LOL.

Best regards Zina. London

Wanted to say Thanks on behalf of my niece and I for the course today.

Having never used an overlocker before I was a little concerned but you made it super easy to understand and learn about with clear instructions but not at all waffle.

I have come away confident I will be able to use my new machine and more is the point I will be able to create in ways I've never done before.

Really lovely studio clean and tidy, comfortable surroundings, yummy lunch and tea and cake in the afternoon what more could we ask for?
Thanks again for a great day! :)

Emma B.

Dear Sue

Thank you very much for the lovely cushion which I received yesterday and thank you so much a great course on How to Use an Overlocker.

I had hesitated before buying an overlocker for quite some time as I was not sure about how to compare different models and even what features I would need.

Your course gave me the confidence to buy a machine, the same type as used in the class and I love using it and I am looking forward to getting on with more sewing projects now.

If you have any places available I would like to book a place on the curtain course.

Kind Regards

Geraldine - Hereford

Dear Sue,

Thank you very much for a most enjoyable day yesterday - it was good to see you at last.

I no longer fear the dreaded overlocking machine, although I expect we'll have a few interesting moments in the days to come.

Thank you very much too for my lovely little pin cushion: it will get lots of use.  Lunch was great & very welcome along with the company of other fellow sew-ers, was a lot of fun.

I think I left my Sewing Tuition bag you gave us, I will find it very useful, so will collect when I come on my next sewing day.

Good luck with everything you do, especially the next intake for the Certificate Course.

Regards & best wishes, Linda - Herts

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for being such a wonderful an inspirational teacher.

I have loved every minute of the 10 date certificated course (and all the homework).  It has been challenging and enjoyable and has given me a new lease of life after a decade of nappies and play dough !

Many thanks, Tess - Oxford

Dear Sue,

Just to say Thank You for giving me such a wonderful day on last Saturday.

I am looking forward to hours of fun making things with the new skills you taught me & hope to come again soon,

Regards Carole C.

Hi Sue,
My mother in law and I really enjoyed your sewing machine course on Sunday in The Cotswolds. I love, love, love my cushion and passed on all your advice to my sister regarding buying her sewing machine. My sister and I would love to do your patchwork for beginners.

Di has already done this course with you and is encouraging me and my sister, Jane to do it. Is there any availability this September the 29th for the two of us??

Much love and hugs, Debbie xx - London

To Sue,

Thank you SEW much for such a great day.  I did not know about sewing, but from the moment I entered your craft room, I never stopped learning.

I was apprehensive & nervous & didn’t know what to do with my machine - now I am confident & excited about the many things I want to make.

Yourself, Sarah & Alan were great company & I had a brilliant day !  I’m sure we’ll meet again.

Love, Nicola - Witney

Hi Sue,

Thanks for another great course Sue. I can't believe three days went so quickly and that I managed to learn so much about dressmaking in such a short time. Still lots more I need to know though - I'll be back!

Will hopefully see you on a future course. Advanced Dressmaking perhaps ?!

Sarah K. from Stratford

Hi Sue,

Just a quick thank you for all of your help, guidance and fantastic sewing tips over my 5 sewing days - sewing machines, curtains, cushions, roman blinds & lambrequins.

I'm happy but the husband's happier as he's realised we'll save a fortune by not having to buy from John Lewis, Laura Ashley and all the other stores I drag him to!

Gill H.  ps... I'll be back for more once I've tackled all my projects

Thank you Sue - I had the best day on Saturday and can't wait to return on the 9th Feb!

I had a go on my Mum's machine yesterday and managed to even sort it out - I am addicted to the ease of the Janome 603 so am going into Sew Devine tomorrow to get one.

I can't wait to make a cushion for Spencer that matches his curtains. Everyone was very impressed with Saturday's end result!

Thank you for a brilliant day.

See you soon. Sarah W. X

I've just picked up a parcel from the post office from you, what a lovely thing to do !! I am smiling from ear to ear like a div !! Thank you so much, I love it :-)

I have been busy this week, I’ve been shopping for fabulous fabric and I've started making dresses for my niece I'm so pleased with how they're turning out. I'll send you the photos once I've finished.

I'm so glad I came to your beginners dressmaking class, you've started something now !!

See you soon I hope,
Jo P. from Essex

Hi Sue,

Thank you so much for the sewing machine course yesterday. I really did enjoy myself: you made us feel welcome and relaxed but within a professional and efficiently organised agenda. A lot of hands-on, which is what I needed to give me confidence, drill it into my memory banks and add to the fun.

It was good having Pippa doing day one of dressmaking, as it showed me where I could be aiming for, and by listening to what you were showing her, it jogged my memory of how I used to be able to sew. I hope she is happy with her finished dress and do please email a photo, tell her we need to see it!!

But also fun having Nicky doing the sewing machine course for reassurance and companionship. I thought her cushion was very classy, but I am also delighted with mine as the colours are just right for our house.

Altogether a good day out, practically beneficial and enjoyable.

Best wishes, Jenny

Hi Sue – many thanks for sending the group picture, it’s really good. I enjoyed the sewing machine course so much. It was a wonderful day with great company and professional, fun tuition and I have great plans for future projects – all thanks to you.

Best wishes, Lin.

Thank you again for another great day Sue.

I learnt so much, and not just about sewing! I was so chuffed with my finished cushion covers.

Nicola. x

Hi Sue,
I was on your last course at Farncombe and I am so pleased with the way you inspired me to 'have a go'. I bought myself a new Janome sewing machine like yours and have found it really easy to learn to use. This afternoon I started my first patchwork cushion cover and have made 4 sets and I am only stopping now because I have to start thinking of getting the dinner.

So thank you so much for all your very useful tips and the very constructive way you ran the course.

Best Wishes, Jenny B.  France

Dear Sue,

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to you for teaching me how to have more confidence in my sewing machine & my ability to use it.

It was a huge step for me on my own personal journey & being creative is hugely important to me.  I have since made a small project & I used so many of the techniques that you taught us - I am thrilled.

Thank you for sharing your skills with me.

With my very best wishes, Sarah.

Ps - My cushion that I made on that day has been admired by all who have been shown it ! X

Hello Sue,

I'm so sorry that this email is so late in thanking you for such a super sewing day a few Saturdays ago.

I really enjoyed the sewing machine day and only wish that it was a 6 week course and not just one day! Everyone who has seen my magic cushion, loves it and I've had quite a few requests for Christmas presents !! I feel much more confident in using my machine, thank you!

Thanks again and also many thanks for the photos – we all look great with our new creations!

With all best wishes,

Morning Sue, all you lovely Ladies,
Just wanted to drop you a line to say a big thank you for the Start Your Own Business course - it was fab! I can honestly say I had a thoroughly enjoyable two days and learnt loads.

It was lovely to meet you all, and to have such great 'like minded' company, that coupled with the wonderful location, great food and wine, what more could a girl ask for?

You are such an excellent cook and I have returned home feeling thoroughly spoilt especially as "Husband" cooked last night!

So have fun, take care and thanks again.
Carol - France

Dear Sue

I had a wonderful day. Amazed myself, but that was due to your excellent tutoring. I may well have the bug for this sewing business. I have arranged to go out to purchase sewing machine next week.

The day was well worth the drive. I learnt so much and all the little tips and tricks will help no end for future cushions!!!

Many thanks, Nicky. Hertfordshire

Hi Sue,

Thank you very much for a lovely day yesterday. Despite a very packed train and many people knocking past, the Roman Blind survived very well and doesn't even need an iron! I am looking forward to putting it up in the new house, along with all the others I will be making over the coming weeks.

I very much look forward to seeing you on the next course.

Many thanks, Fiona, Berks

Hi Sue,

Sorry for not sending this sooner but thank you very much for your expertise during the course a few weeks ago.

I finally did get out my little red machine last night and whizzed up some elephant ears, tail and trunk for my sons school "Elmer Day". I would not have had the confidence to do this before the sewing machine course.

It was a lovely group and I really enjoyed it - smiled all day and so proud of my cushion.

Just need to make the time now to keep practicing.

Thank you again - Laura. X

Dear Sue,

Thank you for all your kindness and a most enjoyable and informative day on Sunday.

I love my cushion and you have saved me a fortune as I had been about to give up on my machine and replace it. With your help I've realised where the problem lay and now know how to use it properly and how much more it can do than I thought.

I am thinking of signing up for your machine class next to get even more value from it. Also I loved your embroidery machine and am tempted to consider one.

Looking forward to the class photo, what a lovely group and what a brilliant tutor.

Kind regards, Mary. Oxford

Hi Sue,

Thanks for a lovely day on Sunday where I finally learned to use my overlocker properly!

It was a great idea to prepare a few pages of samples with notes alongside showing all the settings that were used to create the stitch effects; I just know I will be referring to these for a long time to come.

The best thing was finding out that the poor stitch quality I was achieving on my own was not due to me or the machine, but rather the thread I was using.

If it had not been for your course I would probably have given up on the overlocker, which would have been an awful waste.

Thanks again,

Donna G. Xx

Hi Sue,

I really enjoyed the basic curtain making tuition last Friday. I can hardly believe that only 9 weeks ago I didn’t even know how to thread my sewing machine and now I have just started work on a pair of floor length curtains for a large bay window!

Thanks for all your patient tuition.

I worked out how much material I needed using your formula and because it was is my first attempt I gave the measurements to the fabric shop and asked them to work it out and am pleased to say they came up with exactly the same amount, so I was very chuffed with that.

Hopefully you got my message yesterday - I think I have definitely got the sewing bug now!

Dear Sue,

Thank you so, so much for all your help with the curtain & cushion making courses.  I really did enjoy my days spent with you & learnt so much on how to make curtains & various soft furnishings.  I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere & you made everything so easy to make.  Thank you for your patience with me - you deserve a medal !

With very best wishes, Stacey, Bucks

Sue, thanks so much - I really enjoyed the workshop and am ready to get started on my roman blinds!!

Can you let me know how much your roman blind packs are? I have the cord but nothing else.

You really are amazing - putting up with all us students and producing that AMAZING work x

Hi Sue,

I had the time of my life making bags with Sue for two days. I learned SO much, even though I have been sewing for at least thirty years. I picked up lots and lots of tips and helpful hints from Sue. She is a wonderful teacher and so knowledgeable.

The course reawakened my desire to sew for pleasure, especially as I want a bit of me time, having brought up four children and survived (I hope) breast cancer.

The workshop is bright and full of fabrics and cottons and accessories and SUCH fun.

Highly recommended to everyone, from beginners to experts.

You can email me at my website below to verify this feedback.

Catherine A. (I shall send you photos of the three bags that I made with you as soon as I am back in France.)

Thank you so much for the cushion course today, I found your class highly professional, organised and fun, just like you!

I will definitely be booking again.

On that day I propose to make a memo board(s) and perhaps learn how to embroidery names.

Once again, thanks so much.

Sandra, SW20

Hi Sue,

Sorry I have been so long in thanking you for my day's lesson.  I have done quite a lot of embroidery on calico and I am enjoying it very much.

It was well worth coming to you, it gave me more confidence as regards using the machine.

I shall have to make some more visits to you in the near future.

Once again thank you Sue, you are a lovely lady.

Regards Anya

Hi Sue,

Sometimes you meet people in life that really bring the best out in you & Marie and I feel you are one of those people :)  Think big & stay positive, good things happen to good people.

Marie has attempted to make a top after our dressmaking days - I haven't seen the finished result. I am buying material to make tutu's for my girly weekend away for St. Patrick Day. They are overpriced in the shops so I figured that I would make 5 myself. I have attached a picture. Any tips? And what needle shall I use?

I have bought curtains to alter for Maries newly decorated lounge as they work out cheaper than I could make them for, BUT I will be taking them up as the standard lengths too long.

We will definitely be coming back at some point this year!

Hi Sue,

Your overlocker course was a great day and gave me the practise, knowledge and confidence to use my overlocker so much more efficiently.

I have recently used it alongside my sewing machine to make my daughters dress for her graduation ball!

Not only that, it was a lovely day meeting some very interesting people too and I went home feeling very refreshed and relaxed.

Annette, Cornwall

Thank you very much Sue, for all your help & expert teaching.

Having attended your how to use a sewing machine day, I did not know sewing was so much fun !  I will definitely keep it up.

I have attached a picture of my first pair of curtains - just look how level & precise they are - marks out of ten please?

Lucy, Oxford

Hi Sue

Thanks for your advice - I really do appreciate it! I have attached a few photographs of some bits I have been working on - lined roman blinds for a friend, ring cushions for our Secretary's daughters wedding, a few other cushions I have been playing around with (need more practise with the zips though!!).

Have done about 12 lots of machine lined roman blinds now (two of which were double blinds for a large window). Was quite daunting, but really enjoyed it!

Can't wait to see the end result for the interlined roman blind. Am desperate to learn more though.... hard to believe I didn't even know how to thread my sewing machine properly this time last year! Your classes and the course notes have been fantastic - I could never have learned everything from books!!

Am hoping that once we are in the cottage, I can look at reducing my working hours and commit more time to sewing. Will be in touch soon to book some more dates soon....

Thanks again, take care,
Debs, Hereford

Hi Sue,

I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learnt from you in a day !  I now realise there are 3 ways to do most things - yours being the easiest & more professional of course I now know.

The tip about threading a sewing machine needle being the most time saving of all - a different way to attach lining in curtains & using the correct products & equipment can save so much stress & time too.

I will not hesitate to recommend your courses & day workshops to anyone.  I cannot wait until my next workshop as I am now ‘hooked’ !

Keep us sewing - best wishes, Michelle, Oxford.

Hi Sue,

Since moving overseas to Scandinavia, I took a couple of sewing classes.  I just finished my first big project & I was very happy with the results.

But although I learned a lot in the overseas class, her notes were hopeless and I had great difficulty reproducing at home what we learned in class.

Unlike your notes where I was able to come home and make items without any difficulty whatsoever.

You are a great teacher!!

Dear Sue,

I just have to say how much I have gained since attending your lovely sewing days.

I am so pleased I made the time to come along as I can save so much money when it comes to making the curtains & blinds for our new home.  I am determined to have a spare room to put my sewing machine up - my husband can have a small corner, but I now know the importance of working on a table rather than struggling on the floor.

I have read through all my notes along with your notes, so I can now make another curtain with ease.  I have so many tips from my days with you that I can only improve with my sewing  - pictures to follow.

Thanks again Sue & see you later in the year for more projects.

Jane, Semington.

Hello Sue,

I am writing partly to send you an update, with thanks, on where I've got to after my beginner's course on the 27th, and partly to book another!
We got my sewing room ready last week, at last, and after one false start (didn't read your rules, did bad things, broke needle, no spare, got all panicked) I have been having lots of fun.

It is just amazing to me how much I can now get done compared to sewing things laboriously - and inaccurately - by hand.  Thank you so much for getting me going!

See you in July for my next course - cannot wait !

Michelle, Kent.

Hi Sue

One curtain finished - the other only just started due to far too much other work.

The lovely thing for me about your courses is that not only do I learn how to do things properly after all these years but they are relaxing and allow me to do something just for me without pressure from the family to do this and that for them.

So thanks very much.

All the best, Viv. Oxfordshire

Hi Sue,

Hope your keeping well.  Just wanted to send you a quick email to, once again say thank you for teaching Sasha and I how to use our sewing machine - we're having a whale of a time creating all kinds of things.  We make sure we set aside a day every other week to get our sewing machines out and attached is a photo of what I made today, I'm chuffed to bit's with it.  We both covered a lampshade and didn't have a clue how to go about it but using our new found sewing skills we fathomed it out.  We take on a challenge every time we sew, next time it's an envelope cushion cover (because we can't sew in zips)!!!  Fingers crossed between us we manage to create something great.

If your running one of your general 'questions and answers' sessions we'd love to hear when, we've got loads of questions (how to sew in a zip, how to create a button hole, etc, etc).

Hope to sew again with you soon, Louise x

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for Friday - I LOVED it & was reassured about drawing with my sewing machine, learnt a lot AND came away with a cushion!

Thank you for the delicious lunch, magazines & I look forward to the next lesson.

Harriet, Kent

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for running such a fantastic curtain course last week.  It was a brilliant day and was perfect with 3 other lovely ladies.

I hope you have a very happy Christmas with lots of ‘pins & needles’ in the new year !

Lots of love, Jacqueline.

Extract from a very talented artist who Sue helped translate her brilliant drawing with a sewing machine into works of art using a sewing machine

Having bought a Pfaff sewing machine, I went to some classes with Sue Hazell, who taught me the more than the basics, and who is not responsible in any way for my subsequent breaking of most of the rules, and my total disregard for straight lines.  Sue taught me the phrase by which I’ve tried to live, work-wise, ever since (and mostly failed) “Don’t put it down, put it away”.  I should still be trying to thread my machine and work out what the bobbin was for if it hadn’t been for those classes.
